Site stuff!

Sunday, November 5th, 2006 by David

For those of you who waited more than a decade to play Sam and Max Hit the Road, I have put our updated .EXE file back online to facilitate playing the game on modern-style computers. You’ll still need all the game data to play the game, potential software pirates; this is only the program that runs all the stuff you should already have. Anyway, have fun, don’t steal, and buckle up, we love you!

Thanks to Sunfox for reminding me about this.

Emily M. spoils dinner with Easter eggs

Saturday, November 4th, 2006 by David

Over on the Telltale official forums, community guru Emily Morganti has posted a thread detailing some spoilerific ways to find some of Culture Shock’s hidden tidbits. Ugh, did I just say “spoilerific”? Anyway, it’s well worth a read if you’re already looking for some replay value in the first Sam & Max Episode.

No news equals RSS reminder!

Friday, November 3rd, 2006 by David

After that little burst of news over the last few days, I’m kind of sad that there’s nothing to really talk about today. Despite the fact that the site is powered by WordPress now, I will try to avoid posting anything that sounds too blog-y to fill space.

I just wanted to reassure you all that this site is totally with the times. In case you didn’t notice the links at the bottom of the site, we have an RSS feed for you all to enjoy and incorporate into your home pages and syndication readers and other scary things like that. If I have some free time next week, I will try to put up a couple more content pages related to Culture Shock.

How’s my driving? As always, you can leave some feedback in comments or on our forums. The lack of Jake telling me what to do is a bit unnerving.

Steve Purcell’s put up another page of the Sam and Max web comic, “The Big Sleep”, over at the official Telltale Games site. If this is the first time you’re hearing about Steve’s new series, you might want to start with the first issue. Hope everyone’s enjoying Culture Shock so far! It’s really good, isn’t it?

Sam & Max: Culture Shock now available at Telltale’s website

Customers worldwide can now buy the first episode of Sam & Max: Season 1, or try it out with the free demo

SAN RAFAEL, CA, November 1, 2006 – Fans of quick wit, biting sarcasm, and deceptively endearing anthropomorphic animals rejoice! Canine shamus Sam and his rabbity-thing sidekick Max, the Freelance Police, are back on the neighborhood beat, clearing throngs of self-propelled gutter trash off the streets. The first Sam & Max video game in over a decade is now on sale at the Telltale website www.telltalegames.com. A downloadable free trial is also available at the site.

Sam & Max: Culture Shock is the first of six planned episodes. The game premiered exclusively on Turner Broadcasting System’s GameTap service on October 17, where it was welcomed with outstanding acclaim from reviewers and fans. Today marks Culture Shock’s worldwide debut.

Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell says, “It’s clear from this first episode that the Telltale crew has a great handle on what a Sam & Max game should be. Creating an engaging, funny, and yummy-looking series while indulging my goofy whims every step of the way is a Herculean task. And the episodic approach to Sam & Max is working as well as I had hoped. I’m a happy little spud!” Mike Stemmle, a driving force behind 1993’s trailblazing Sam & Max: Hit the Road game, says: “Telltale’s Sam & Max makes me as giddy as a hobo in a transcontinental boxcar full of ham hocks!”

Culture Shock has already received extremely positive reviews from mainstream and specialized press alike. The New York Times reports, “With sardonic humor, a cool jazz score and engaging 3D graphics, Culture Shock has even more style and wit than the original game.” IGN.com has awarded Culture Shock its esteemed Editors’ Choice distinction and writes that it “is sure to please fans of humor, fans of adventure games and the legion of Sam & Max devotees who have been waiting like demented lagomorphs for a return of the deranged duo.”

Visitors to www.telltalegames.com can purchase Culture Shock for $8.95 or preorder the entire season for $34.95. Those who opt for the full season will get immediate access to Culture Shock and subsequent episodes as they come out on Telltale’s site. When the season wraps up next spring, these customers can receive a CD version of Sam & Max: Season 1 for only the price of shipping and handling. Sam & Max episodes can also be played as part of a GameTap subscription for $9.95 / month.

To welcome the Freelance Police, Telltale has just unveiled a completely new website at www.telltalegames.com. In addition to Sam & Max: Season 1, the site features Telltale’s other games (CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder, the Bone series, and Telltale Texas Hold’em), as well as a selection of high-quality story-driven games developed by third-party partners. With a portfolio of content for all ages and tastes, as well as improved forums and community areas, the new Telltale website advances the company’s position as a top-caliber entertainment destination.

About Sam & Max

Steve Purcell published “Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple” as his first Sam & Max comic in 1987. Sam & Max solved assorted crimes and mysteries as “Freelance Police” in their sturdy 1960 Black and White De Soto Adventurer from their home base in New York City. After a series of follow-up comic books, Purcell worked with a team at LucasArts to create the critically acclaimed “Sam & Max Hit the Road” adventure game in 1993. The dog and bunny duo moved to television, in an award-winning animated series in 1997 and are now appearing in an all-new webcomic series at http://www.samandmaxcomics.com.

We’re Back!

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 by David

Hey everyone! We’re back online, the day before Telltale releases Sam and Max: Culture Shock worldwide! Sorry for the downtime that lasted a little longer than the other Mixnmojo network pages, but we wanted to do a little bit better than just rebuilding the outdated content that we had. There’s a little more explanation over here.

Anyway, there won’t be too much to see on this site for awhile, apart from a lot of news, which you can now make comments on! Our forums are still alive, as they have been throughout the various down times, and we’ve managed to input the site’s archives into a high-tech database thing, and have located some previously missing news content. Check it out!

Happy Halloween indeed!
