Happy 20th Anniversary, Sam & Max!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007 by Bryan

That’s right, it’s been twenty years since the lovable duo hopped onto the scene, and Telltale sure has the right idea of how to celebrate. We have a bundle of commemorative (mystery) merchandise to look forward to throughout the year, but what I’m really excited about is Telltale’s confirmation of a Surfin’ the Highway reprint to be available exclusively through their online store sometime in 2007:

“In addition to all of the content of the 1995 original (including “Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple,” the now classic “Bad Day on
the Moon,” and “On the Road,” which inspired the 1993 LucasArts Sam & Max video game), the new edition will also contain extra Sam & Max content developed over the last decade, such as rarely seen comic stories, previously unreleased art, and a new cover. The reprint
will debut exclusively in Telltale’s online store later this year. More details of the reprint, including pricing and availability information, will be announced in the near future.”

For more information and an email address which you can mail to get notified exactly when the reprint is available for release, follow this link.

Also of notice, the Season One disc looks like it’ll be ready to invade your mailboxes starting in July, and it’s loaded with a plethora of extras (see above link for details)! Additionally, in the works there’s a two-disc soundtrack and a little something called a Season One Case File that includes an assortment of goodies related to the episodes. Well, that’s all the news for today folks, hope you didn’t get overstimulated. Maybe now’s a good time to just draw up a nice, hot bath and give the day over to yourself.

Summer of Sam & Max

Saturday, June 16th, 2007 by Bryan

Have you been catching yourself jonesing for more Sam & Max lately after depleting all six of Telltale’s episodes? Fear not, fellow fan! Telltale’s not about to let you go cold turkey, check their Summer of Sam & Max page weekly for new content updates! At the time of this writing, they already have up commentaries for Culture Shock (along with some other miscellaneous Culture Shock goodies), and the first part of their The History of Sam & Max feature, compiled by none other than Telltale’s Emily Morganti and the one and only Steve Purcell! Definitely worth checking out, so go on and have at it!

Looks like Sam and Max: Season 1 is now available on Valve’s awesome Steam
distribution system. If you haven’t purchased the episodes from Telltale directly or signed up for GameTap, you now have another choice: Get Sam and Max on STEAM today!

We’ll be resuming normal news updating activity soon.

Add a Bit of S&M to Your DVD Collection!

Well, not just yet exactly, but there’s a rumor floating around on the Shout! message boards that the animated Sam & Max series is being prepped for a DVD release. The Sam & Max cartoon episodes are available online for the viewing pleasure of GameTap subscribers, but it would still be a nice treat to own them on a tangible medium.

And yes, this site still updates…occasionally. Sorry, we’ve just been really bogged down…with doing our hair and all. If you are all overly desperate to catch up on what we’ve failed to inform you on news from our absence, we recommend hitting the usual spots: The International House of Mojo and Telltale Games. Stay swarthy, Sam & Max fiends!
