Deus Ex Machina

When Sam & Max get hopelessly stuck, the plot tends to get resolved with a Deus Ex Machina. This often takes the form of the sudden appearance of an "old friend", who hasn't actually appeared before and is never seen again.

Big Trouble at the Earth's Core	Saved by the sudden appearance of Mole Women.
The Final Episode	Land exactly on Lactose the Intolerant when thrown out of the plane. Later saved by The Rubber Pants Commandos yet again.
The Big Sleep	Saved by old friend Royal Cockroach Neurosurgeon Sir Kenneth Blattodea.
Culture Shock	Sybil happens to have access to hypnosis-blocking helmet blueprints. Sam: "That's just the kind of ridiculously lucky break we need!"
What's new, Beelzebub? (debatable)	Saved by their past selves.
The City That Dares Not Sleep	After Max dies and seems to be gone for good, his alternate past self shows up by time elevator to take his place.
