Fizzball

Fizzball is a game Sam and Max like to play in their spare time. It is described in the comic Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple.

The game is played with a thick stick/club and cases of cheap beer and requires two or more players. It is played in a similar way to baseball, except there are no fielders and the main objective is to let the batter hit the beer can. Needless to say, the game was created to watch beer cans explode and be torn apart in an "appreciation of raining froth and shimmering aluminum shrapnel".

The types of ways a can can explode include:

• The Pinwheel
• The War of the Worlds
• The Cannonball
• The Time Bomb

The official Fizzball uniforms are rain jackets and hats. Sam thinks whoever uses helmets are "goddamn pansies".

Steve Purcell actually invented and played Fizzball with his friends Art Adams, Mike Mignola and Scott Mignola before writing it up for Sam & Max. Some people still play it to this day.

• Max mentions playing this game with Mr Lefty in Abe Lincoln Must Die!, but Sam only remembered Max chasing the poor store owner with a hockey mask and chainsaw.
