On the stake-out at Stinky's.

Flint Paper is the freelancers' next-door neighbor, a stereotypical private detective. His work method often consists of "pummeling", and he has, to date, proved to be effectively indestructible. He sometimes calls Sam "Sammy" or "Samo".

[edit] Character Detail

Flint Paper's appearance in the original 1987 comic Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple.

Flint's appearances are typically brief ones at the start of a story, with Sam & Max passing by his office while he's in the middle of pummeling some cheap thugs senseless.

Flint makes his grand first appearance in Ice Station Santa; after the Maimtron 9000 blasts a hole into the hole of The Office, Flint appears as the next-door neighbor. In that episode and Moai Better Blues he hangs out at Girl Stinky's diner, trying to find information on somebody's son. He continues doing this in Night of the Raving Dead, though he suddenly attacks Jurgen's night club battling the zombies (assuming they have took Sam and Max who have actually became zombies), later being knocked out by them.

At the end of the episode he informs S&M that Bosco has been robbed. At the start of Chariots of the Dogs, all three of them break into Bosco's Inconvenience; Sam and Max end up in T.H.E.M.'s HQ while Flint Paper is left to the surface. In What's new, Beelzebub? Ms Bosco finally finds Bosco, and hosts Abe Lincoln's bachelor party alongside Mr Featherly, Bosco, Jimmy Two-Teeth & The Monster (the latter being the stripper). Along with the other four guys he is influenced by S&M's liquor, ending the party.

In The Devil's Playhouse, Flint appears in the Penal Zone when he is searching for Mama Bosco's missing power core. It is revealed that Flint is investigating Stinky on suspicions prompted from a mysterious letter that he is found between her and her boyfriend 'S'. In They Stole Max's Brain!, Flint inspires Sam into his new 'noir' attitude and later appears as an officer of Sammun-Mak when he arrests Grandpa Stinky for heresy.

Flint makes further appearances in the Devil's Playhouse in Beyond the Alley of the Dolls in which he interrogates Stinky in the Diner and also in The City that Dares Not Sleep in which he has finally figured out the truth behind the schemes of Stinky and Sal, finally confronting her in the cloning chamber while also being an unwilling pawn in her plan (he almost kills Gra-pea'pe, who unbeknowest to Flint, is holding Grandpa Stinky's brain). Sam stops Flint from killing Grandpa Stinky and Flint tells him the truth behind Stinky's past. Flint makes one final appearance at the end of the game when Momma Bosco attempts to clone Max.

A mainstay if there ever was one, Flint Paper's office has been next to the Freelance Police's since at least as far back as Monkeys Violating the Heavenly Temple and in all incarnations except (possibly) the animated series.

[edit] Trivia

  • Flint has a cameo appearance in Poker Night at the Inventory.
    • In comments throughout Poker Night, Max details a history between Flint Paper and Artie Flopshark, a poker guru first mentioned in Telltale Texas Hold 'Em. Flint has pummeled Artie over a misunderstanding on at least three occasions, before finally killing him over a lost one-on-one poker game.
