Grandpa Stinky
From Sam & Max Wiki
Grandpa Stinky is a side character in Sam & Max Season Two and The Devil's Playhouse.
[edit] Character Detail
Appearing first in Chariots of the DogsStinky is the original proprietor of Stinky's Diner, which he used to engage in gastronomical experiments to better the human race (mostly by creating food so bad only the toughest can stomach eating it). One such creation was The Cake of the Damned, better known as girl Stinky, who believes him to be her grandfather. Girl Stinky took over the diner after the old man died in a mountaineering accident, which ironically could have been prevented by the superior adhesive she would have invented if Sam & Max hadn't traveled back in time to steal the family recipe in Chariots of the Dogs.
Sam and Max later go to Grandpa Stinky's Hell in What's new, Beelzebub?; he, along with Timmy Two-Teeth and the Rats killed in the Maimtron 9000 incident earlier in the episode, were being forced to watch Girl Stinky be successful in her cooking show. By getting Timmy to swear, Sam and Max managed to free Grandpa Stinky & Timmy. Then, Satan released him and all the others after Sam traded his soul away.
In The Devil's Playhouse, Grandpa Stinky is the victim of an ongoing plot formulated by Girl Stinky and Sal as they attempt to kill him. In The Penal Zone, Grandpa Stinky joins the army of General Skun-ka'pe but resigns angrily when he is only recognised a sous-chef by the ship's computer. He makes another minor appearance in They Stole Max's Brain! in which he is arrested for being a heretic by Flint Paper after failing to kneel to Sammun-Mak.
However, in Beyond the Alley of the Dolls, a secret tunnel below the diner constructed by Girl Stinky is revealed, leading Grandpa Stinky to call in Flint Paper to interrogate his grandaughter about her secret. However, Grandpa Stinky is tricked by Sam and Girl Stinky into believing that they were just planning his surprise birthday party and leaves to take care of the clones.
In The City That Dares Not Sleep, Grandpa Stinky makes a minor appearance at the beginning of the episode in which he provides Sam with a recipe for the giant corndog. Later, Girl Stinky's plot reaches its climax as Grandpa Stinky ends up switching brains with one of General Skun-ka'pe's minions, Gra-pea'pe, with the intention that Flint Paper will destroy this minion's body and Grandpa Stinky's brain along with it. While the plot is foiled, Grandpa Stinky's body is on board Skun-ka'pe's ship when it is destroyed. However, Girl Stinky seems to believe that his body is invincible, meaning that it may have survived. Nevertheless, Grandpa Stinky is seen in the minion's body in the Cloning Chamber at the end.
When asked by Sam about how Grandpa Stinky feels about his new body, he replies if he didn't get his old one back, he could get used to being in the minion's body.
Sam and Max have fond memories of the old man and much prefer him to the new Stinky, but their enthusiasm doesn't last long when they actually meet him again in Chariots of the Dogs.
Stinky's arms bear a tattoo featuring Norse Futhark runes spelling out what transliterates into Satang. Thus far the possible significance of this has only been speculated on.[edit] Voiced By
