Hubert Q. Tourist is a minor character in They Stole Max's Brain!

[edit] Character Detail

In They Stole Max's Brain!, Hubert is visiting America by way of Aschaffenburg. While he is getting Frankie the Rat's help to find the Museum District (while near the Sign Spinner), he witnesses General Skun-ka'pe making off with Max's brain while battling Anton Papierwaite. He picks up a note containing the words "Dr. Norrington", then is directed to the bad side of town by Frankie (he believes he is helping him to the museum district). Additionally, it is very likely that Frankie sent him there so that his friends could scope him out.

He is later interrogated by Sam; he claims that he left the fight empty-handed, though when Sam is told by Frankie that he left with a souvenir (the note), he is convinced to give Sam the note. He now develops an anti-American attitude.

He later finally finds the Museum of Mostly Natural History; Sam tricks one of General Skun-ka'pe's minions into believing that Hubert is Sam and is shot out. He is later seen in Sammun-Mak's alternate reality in which he is spectating fights between Skun-ka'pe (Sammunmak's servant) and rebellious Mole People. When he accidentally throws his camera (the "EuroSnap 3000") at Sammun-Mak's beloved corndogs, he is sent to the ring against Skun-ka'pe and is defeated. It is unconfirmed if he died or survived. It is also unconfirmed if the destruction of this reality revived him if he did die.

It should be noted that like the Sign Spinner, his name is unconfirmed; Sam's notepad containing info on all suspects lists him as "Hubert Q. Tourist". He speaks using non-sensical words that refer explicitly to his current situation, which may exist in fictional Europe. His accent and several terms used by him are a mix of all the languages in Europe.

  • Weltraumliebwachetzaubreikrieg - European word meaning "stunning battle between space ape carrying a brain in a jar and a strangely-garbed man".
  • Ibbleskibbled - Feeling of mild disorentiation combined with nagging doubts a Rat. Claimed to be a common European word.
