One of Max's most prominent features is what he himself calls his "fluffy white tail." Max seems very proud of it. Unfortunately for him, it is often becoming detached from his rear end.

The Tell Tale Tail is an episode of the animated series that centers around Max's tail. After he gets run over and his tail is ripped off, Max takes it to a mad scientist, who reanimates it. It becomes an evil monster, terrorizing the countryside, until it finally reattaches itself to Max. It appears to love squeezy cheese.

In Bright Side of the Moon, Hugh Bliss "separate[d] [his] bliss" and removed three of Max's body parts, turning them into Max's vices. Max's tail became Slothful Max, a blue version of his namesake which could barely walk out of the Blister of Tranquility before collapsing, convincing others to do the same. When Sam caused an earthquake by crashing Bosco's satellite missile defense system into the moon, Slothful Max flipped over and his tail could be removed.
