[edit] Character detail

The Santa seen in Christmas Bloody Christmas is a fairly traditional fat and jolly version who briefly visits in his sleigh to bring gifts and help out. The version in Ice Station Santa & What's new, Beelzebub? is less traditional, being short of stature, generally grumpy and ready to use a gun without hesitation.

[edit] Role in Season 2

In Ice Station Santa, when Sam & Max track a Maimtron 9000 sent to their The Office to kill them back to Santa, they get to the North Pole to discover that Santa is shooting and preventing exit from his room. When they get to his room they discover an exorcism requiring four horsemen and The Friendly Demon Song. Using them could they unleash the exorcism; ironically, the Red Elf was actually possessed. The spirit possessing him was revealed to be the Shambling Corporate Presence; as Santa held it off, S&M helped The Spirits of Christmas seal the demon away into jello. Ironically, Santa accidentally ate the jello again; Sam and Max manually extracted that demon out of Santa saving him.

Santa appears again in What's new, Beelzebub?, where Sam & Max have to free him from Hell in order to attract Satan's attention. They meet him in his own personal hell, which consist of him being surrounded by babies who keeps interrupting and ruining his work. When inquired about this, Santa reveals that he hates children and he only took the job as Santa Claus because it was guaranteed that he only had to interact with them one day every year.

When Sam and Max use the Red Elf to make an indestructible toy that can bleed scaring off the babies, the dispenser of the babies (gift dispenser) dies as all the babies he delivers are killed; this breaks his hell, but S&M still need to get the rights to his soul. Sam unintentionally signs his soul over in exchange for Santa's, the Red Elf's, Bosco's, the Desoto & Jimmy Two-Teeth/Grandpa Stinky.

[edit] Role in The Tomb of Sammun-Mak

Nicholas St. Kringle

From The Tomb of Sammun-Mak, we learn about Santa's past. He used to be Nicholas St. Kringle (a reference to Kris Kringle and Saint Nicholas), a ruthless toy manufacturer who uses elves as workforce. Kringle is first seen in reel 1 as a spectator in the theatre and one of the competitors of the contest held by Papierwaite. His elves steal the Can o' Nuts from scene, replacing it with a fake (later on, the protagonist manage to get it from elves in exchange for a toy idea). When Sameth & Maximus win the contest, he follows them to Egypt in reel 2 and chases them through the tomb with a gun, trying to deprive The Devil's Toybox from them. The protagonists fool him using the ventriloquist's dummy.

Later on, in Disorient Express (reel 3) Kringle steals the Box from Sameth & Maximus, but when they get into his room and open his steamer trunk, they only find a note left by Jurgen, who in turn stole the Box from Kringle. Kringle throws them out of his room and doesn't appear in the plot any more.

The game only hinted that Kringle was Santa without confirming it, but Telltale stated they were the same person in a later blog post.
