The Red Elf first appeared in Sam & Max Beyond Time & Space's first episode, Ice Station Santa. He later appears as a minor character in What's new, Beelzebub?. He also appears in Sam & Max Nearly Save Christmas.

When Sam and Max found him at Santa Claus's work shop, he and the Green Elf were just hired recently. He seems to be like a regular supervisor who is only interested in making deadlines and asks very little questions about upper-management's reasons of hiring him.

There's just one little thing odd about him and after Sam and Max incant the The Friendly Demon Song while having the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse action figures in their possession, it becomes clear. Santa isn't the one who is possessed, it's the elf! Apparently, the Red Elf died of fright as the demon returned to his original body (The Shambling Corporate Presence).

In the final episode of Season Two, the Red Elf appears in a cabinet of dioramas in Hell; the cabinet is of people killed by S&M. When those two entered the diorama, they discovered the Red Elf making toys in the Toy Mafia's factory. His toys are being rejected by Santa Claus; but Sam & Max convince him to make a "Rex Skirmish" acid for blood toy; this helped Sam and Max eliminate the babies that were annoying Santa. The Red Elf & Santa waited for Sam to get the rights to their sould back from Satan, and when he did, he left, never appearing again.
