When uploading images to the Sam & Max Wiki, please follow the following guidelines for convenience, bandwidth preservation and other reasons.

  • If the image you add is copyrighted (which is pretty much guaranteed), add an appropriate copyright tag. The drop-down list in the upload menu has entries for game, comic and tv show images, which covers the vast majority of Sam & Max images. Select one of those when you upload to automatically add the corresponding copyright tag. If none of these is appropriate, you can manually add the template {{Fairuse}}.
  • Keep the resolution limited. Pictures that are much higher-res than you can see on the page increase load times and are kind of at odds with our fair use claims. As a rule of thumb, let the file width be no more than twice the width at which it is actually used. Alternatively, don't let the actual file be much larger than the preview on the file page. Yet another rule of thumb: if it's 1MB or more, it's probably too large.

  • Add a short description saying what the image shows and what comic/episode/game the shot is taken from. Use links where possible.
  • Use an obvious name to help people find what they're looking for in a search.
  • Use an efficient file type like JPG or PNG.
  • Save black-and-white images in grayscale rather than full-color.
