The Bug is a character/inventory item who first appears in The Mole, the Mob, and the Meatball.

Sam & Max buy the bug from Bosco, as a "BoscoTech listening device". While he's not exactly as expected, he does the job just fine: he can scurry to a good hiding spot on his own accord and replay any overheard conversation word-by-word and in the voice of the character originally speaking it. He is first used when S&M use him on the Toy Mafian guarding the back door at Ted E. Bear's Mafia Free Playland and Casino in The Mole, the Mob and the Meatball by getting Ted E. Bear to say the passcode while they were elsewhere. The bug would later be used to steal Abraham Lincoln's voice in Abe Lincoln Must Die!, and later used again to glitch The C.O.P.S. in Reality 2.0.

Following Reality 2.0, The Bug moved on to his own life (adapting Prismatology in Bright Side of the Moon. He later has his Christmas saved by Sam and Max in Ice Station Santa, as he actually hates his family. He also participated in Girl Stinky's quiz, which he lost. He last appeared at Sybil and Abe's wedding in the season finale.
